IMPERMANENCIA

Colombia is positioned in a latent place between different and opposing realities, abundance and extreme scarcity.
Through the use of photography and digital manipulation, these images construct palimpsests that give rise to reimagined landscapes. The digital process itself seeks to motivate the viewer to observe in detail, to question the authenticity of what they are seeing and to feel the tension between reality and fantasy , life and death, the past and the present.
The landscape that Escobar presents in her series Impermanencia, becomes an open, impartial and ever changing source of information. Landscape is attributed the role of a witness who has recorded time and change without emotion or opinion, but rather through appearance. These works end up forming a new narrative that, although it is directly related to Colombia and its situation is also open to interpretation in relation to similar realities around the world.
